    St. Mark's Mission Statement

Through the grace and power of the Holy Spirit given to us in Baptism, we are called to make Jesus Christ known in such ways that people will accept and follow him as their Lord and Savior. Those coming to the Lord Jesus will continue to grow in a mature, spiritual manner, living out their lives in the power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

When they (the Apostles) saw Him they worshiped Him...And Jesus came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the ages.
    Matthew 28:17-20

History of St. Mark's at the Crossing

St. Marks at the Crossing Window 1 Worship is at the heart of community life at St. Mark's at the Crossing. Although our commitment to Christ is expressed in many ways, it is in our coming together in the Holy Eucharist that we proclaim most fully our call to worship God and to serve His people.

The Holy Spirit is alive and moves in the lives of the people who make up St. Mark's. It is not an exclusive club, but an integration of ages, vocations, backgrounds, lifestyles - ordinary people - with one binding element: faith in the Risen Lord. This miracle takes place not in a dramatic way, but in a long, steady and very sure pilgrimage in the Faith.

From a handful of members who first celebrated the Eucharist together on November 11, 1973, in the home of a member, St. Mark's has continued to grow - moving to Winslow Township's School #3, then graduating to an old, rented Methodist church in Sicklerville. Finally, on October 17, 1986, the Rt. Rev. Vincent K. Pettit, Suffragan Bishop of New Jersey, consecrated our new church.

St. Marks at the Crossing Window 2 For personal and spiritual growth, Cursillo, retreats and study courses are made available. Prison ministry through Kairos, the healing ministry through the Order of St. Luke, and a ministry to the needy through the Monroe Township community closet are also offered. Of our many contributions to the Church, St. Mark's has in its many years had two parishioners go on to become priests, one a deacon, and a third enter the monastic life.

With the Holy Spirit so alive, our community in Christ can surely survive and be victorious in these days of computerized chaos, threats of nuclear holocaust, fragmented families, and the proliferation of crime and confusion. We can take great comfort in participating in the living Spirit of Faith. He can be found collectively at St. Mark's at regular celebrations of the Eucharist and in individual contact with members of our fellowship as they seek to be witnesses to the "Good News" in the world.
